The other day I felt a hint of the crisp fall air and I ran straight to my closest to pull out my coziest sweatshirt. I love Fall – sure, Summer is great. But I live for those Fall days and I embrace all things cozy. So, I thought I’d pull together a list of gift ideas – or just items for yourself – to give or get when the leaves start to turn and the crisp air settles in for good.
Barefoot Fleece Throw Blanket: Hands down the softest, coziest blanket you’ve ever cuddled under. I have one in my house and I love to grab Zoey, turn on Bluey, and snuggle.
- Pros: Ultra-soft, warm and highly durable, easy to care for, and will keep you nice and warm
- Cons: Price and can potentially shed

Because this is a pricey-er blanket, I could only convince myself to buy one. But I did find a good dupe of the Barefoot Dreams blanket called the Snuggle Sac. I’ve gifted this to family members and I have two or three lying around my living room at all times.
Why Buy: Everyone needs a soft blanket to either bring with you to a bonfire or have as a comfy support during those scary Halloween movies marathons!
Slippers: I would have never considered myself a slippers person until I moved to Colorado. Now in those cooler months, I love waking up and sliding on my fuzzy slippers and I’ve had these for about 3 years and they are holding up incredibly well.

Pros: Plush and cozy! Durable with a non-slip sole
Cons: Runs small – size up in these especially if you want to wear them with fuzzy socks. Although they say you can wear them outside, I wouldn’t. |
Pros: Drop-in heel design (you can wear it as an open-back slipper or a shoe), high-quality leather, amazing warmth in the winter, and incredibly comfortable insole, last a long time
Cons: Pricey, takes some time to full break in, and Tony wouldn’t recommend it for heavy outdoor use like in the snow |
Heated Mattress Pad: I love a warm/heated bed even in the summertime. My sister has a heated bed from Sleep Number – and while I love it – she found this heated mattress pad that gives you a similar effect.
- Pros: A huge pro is that you cannot feel any of the (like you can with a heating blanket), has an hour long preheat feature, automatic shut off, 5 levels of heat, machine washable
- Cons: No cons so far with this yet!
Why Buy: You’ll stay plenty warm this winter, you won’t feel those annoying heating blanket coils, and it feels so good on your back and feet on those cold nights.
Pumpkin Dolce Fall Candle: We can’t bake pumpkin pie or cookies every day, so light yourself a really good fall candle. My favorite comes from Capri. I originally purchased this scent – or variety of fragrances – with their partnership with Pura. I had no idea they sold candles and I just love lighting candles. My favorite scent is Volcano but for the Fall season, I used to plug in Pumpkin Dolce to my Pura device. So yummy smelling.
- Pros: Delicious pumpkin smell without being overpowering – the notes of cinnamon and vanilla help with that. It’s pet-friendly since it’s a soy-base. Last a while!
- Cons: Higher price than most candles and the fragrance can be strong when you first light it
Cute Fall Mug: Whether it’s hot cocoa or pumpkin coffee, as soon as the first note of Fall air hits, I’m drinking only out of Fall mugs. (Mugs are my favorite souvenir and gift…ever). I like to go between cute orange cups with leaves like this one or funny ones about “Witch’s Brew” like this cup I got last year while Chan and I toured around Salem, MA.
- Pros: Large cup, microwave and dishwasher safe, high-quality stoneware
- Cons: Will break if you drop it, heavier than most mugs, pricey
Why buy: If you’re anything like me, you just need a good coffee mug that gets you in that Fall spirit.
Heated Coffee Mug: Now I know I just professed my love for mugs, but once I have my first cup, I’m ready for my second and for my coffee to stay hot for a while. When I’m working from home, I don’t love drinking out of thermos so this heated coffee mug gives me that feeling of a mug but keeps my coffee hot for a while.
- Pros: Temperature control so you can choose how warm or hot to keep your drink, portable, smartphone capability (which I don’t ever use).
- Cons: Expensive
Why buy: Again, if you love mugs but love how thermoses keep your drink hot, this is your item.
Owala Thermos: First it was the Stanley cup, now Owala has taken over the market. I’m a fad buyer so I had to give this a try – and I’ve got to say, it’s worth the hype. It’s a really different, almost smooth, drinking experience. It kept my coffee hot while on the road and it comes in so many cute color combinations.
- Pros: SmoothSip design – it’s a really friendly design that minimizes the number of spills, durable stainless steel, double wall insulated, and cute.
- Cons: Price, only 2 capacity options (10oz and 20oz), isn’t completely leak-free.
Why buy: It’s a trendy buy right now, but it’s a good thermos with a really nice drinking experience.
Lounge Set: I love the idea of pajama sets but I’ve not become that person to really wear pajama sets (mostly shorts and a t-shirt vibe). But, my gosh, these pajamas I just love them so much. Super, super soft but can get a tad bit warm on you, so if you’re a hot sleeper (or using your heated mattress pad), maybe skip to a lighter version.
- Pros: Incredibly soft, love the long-sleeve design, and has an elastic waistband (great after cookie eating and movie watching)
- Cons: Warm – so not advised for those hot sleepers, and I would recommend sizing up one size for a looser feel.
Why buy: It might call itself a pajama set, but it’s a great lounging outfit too for those Fall nights.
Oversized Sweatshirt: Because I work from home, it’s so easy to grab this oversized sweatshirt, pull on some leggings, and my slippers and go to my “office” to work. This sweatshirt has that oversized feeling that I love – and it comes in SO. MANY. COLORS.
- Pros: Classic hoodie thickness, love the quarter zip to it, really soft and great quality after many washes, oversized but still a flattering shape
- Cons: I don’t have any cons with this sweatshirt so far and I’ve had it for about a year now. Some reviews say the sizing was weird for them but a large fit was perfect for me (reference: 5’6”, 155lbs).
Why buy: Fall is about oversized sweatshirts and this brand comes in a variety of colors – plus I love the quarter-length zip so I don’t feel like the thick sweatshirt is hugging my neck too much.
Pumpkin Poo-Pourri: My mother-in-law gifted me some poo-pourri when we moved into our new home. And it’s what I now give everyone in their housewarming basket (right there alongside toilet paper – yes, I’m that friend). Nothing says Fall without everything – and I mean everything – smelling like pumpkins so why not your toilet.
- Pros: It actually works to minimize odors. The fragrance isn’t overbearing. And it’s so easy to use.
- Cons: Forgetting to use it BEFORE you go (lol), runs out quickly since it’s only 2 ozs, and can get pricey if you are constantly going through it.
Why buy: We all go. You can now have your bathroom smelling like pumpkins too!
- Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook: Right up there with my love for Disney is my love for Harry Potter. I grew up at the time the books were being released – and at eleven years old I was expecting my letter from Hogwarts. My mother-in-law gifted me this cookbook for Christmas one year and I love it. I’m not a cook – at all – but this book makes it easy and fun, especially with references back to some of the foods you heard about in the Harry Potter books.
Pros: 150 recipes to try, easy-to-understand -and follow instructions, super great food ideas for parties
