Mickey Mouse makes me cry tears of joy. Disney World is magical. Florida is humid. When you are planning your trip to Disney World—besides planning for the best experience—you need to plan what is going to go in your suitcase and your park bag. There are so many great Disney wearables—ears, shirts, tutus, and pins—that you should definitely have ready to go for a day at the park. And, there are things you need to have to keep comfortable in Florida, the state of hot sun, mid-afternoon rain showers, and hair-poofing humidity.
My Disney park bag is one of my sources of pure organizational joy and extreme anxiety. As an avid Disney lover and park-goer, here are the things you’ll find in my bag:
Clip and Go Strap with Zipper:
- Why Buy: Stop the struggle of digging in your purse or bag to get your phone or wallet. This handy little crossbody strap is perfect to keep all your necessities close. And if you rarely have a free hand (me holding Zoey), this is perfect. Just be careful not to bang your phone getting onto rides.
Poncho
- Why Buy: Please do not go to Disney World without a poncho or an umbrella. I personally love to rock a poncho for those occasional mid-afternoon rain showers that Florida gets.
Misting Fans
- Why Buy: There are several options and styles of fans that you can snag to beat the Florida heat—because it’s unforgiving. I’ve tried both the neck fan and handheld fan. Both work well and are items I love to have in my bag for when you are standing in a line that doesn’t seem to move and shade can be sparse (looking at you, rooftop of Space Mountain…).
Collapsible Water Bottle
Why Buy: I have never brought a collapsible water bottle to the parks, but Chan says it was a great addition to his park bag when he went. He said it made it easier to repack his bag throughout the day and didn’t have to deal with a bulky bottle—or add to waste by using a single-use bottle.
Sunscreen Applicator
- Why Buy: Okay, I’m really excited about this product for 3 big reasons: 1) I hate getting sunscreen on my hands, 2) I feel I never get the application applied everywhere, and 3) a squirmy child. Now, I have not tried this yet, so when I hit Disney in the fall, I’ll give you a much better review. But from the reviews I read and testimonials I’ve watched, this product seems so easy to use.
Cooling Insoles
- Why Buy: I’m sure you’ve heard, but you walk a lot at Disney. I was pushing at least 18,000-20,000 steps a day at the park. So besides comfortable shoes that are well broken in, I recommend some insoles, and if you get hot feet like me, grab yourself some cooling ones.
Waterproof Bag
- Why Buy: Just like that handy poncho, it’s not a bad idea to make the bag you’re bringing with you to Disney waterproof.
Portable Charger
- Why Buy: After a day of burning through the Disney World app to check wait times or book your next Lightning Lane, you’re going to want a portable charger handy. I’ve been lucky enough to not require a charge throughout the day but love having this charger nearby just in case.
Apple Watch
- Why Buy: This is NOT a must-have but just to share that I love having my Apple Watch with me at Disney World. Not only can I load our tickets there and scan them at the gate easier, but I love to walkie-talkie family members to coordinate the next ride. It’s just convenient and that’s always a plus for Disney.
Apple AirTags
Keep track of your belongings with ease. These compact, easy-to-use AirTags can be attached to keys, bags, or other essentials and work seamlessly within the Apple ecosystem using the Find My app.
- Why Buy: AirTags or any sort of tracking device attached to key items are so good to have at Disney. I put my AirTags on my purse, backpack, and stroller. Tip: Disney likes to rearrange strollers, so it’s not always in the same spot you left it. AirTags have calmed my panic that my stroller wasn’t taken.
First Aid Kit
- Why Buy: Disney is amazing if you ever need First Aid, but it’s also nice to carry stuff and help yourself for those blisters that will inevitably happen. I have this little travel first aid kit with me, and it’s packed full of all the good stuff you need—very well organized too!
